Sharon is the Coordinator of Diversity and International Programs at Penn State Berks. where she provides support and advocacy for international, LGBTQA+ and Multicultural students and diversity education to the campus community. Sharon works with international students from many countries and underrepresented students from across the nation. She is the chair of the Berks DEI committee and leads the implementation of campus’ Strategic Plan goals on DEI. Prior to her work at Berks, Sharon was a diversity consultant who worked with Higher Ed, K-12, churches, police departments, leadership institutes and other community organizations. She served as the Chair of the science department at Stann Creek Ecumenical College in Belize, Central America, where she taught biology and integrated science for five years.
Sharon has a passion for intercultural communication and has had over 15 years of training in and facilitation of strategic planning, intercultural development assessment and training for organizations, groups and individuals as well as coaching individuals on their path to intercultural competence. Sharon is a trained Medical Technologist and has a master’s degree in Animal Science and one in Student Affairs in Higher Education. She is a Qualified Administrator for the Intercultural Development Inventory, Cultural Detective, EQI and is a Gallop CliftonStrengths educator. She has received many awards for her work in diversity and social justice.
